The Canon PowerShot G6 receives a redesign that makes it smaller and lighter than the popular PowerShot G5 it replaces. It follows in the good design that characterized the G5, keeping the AF Assist Beam, the swivelling / rotating / tilting LCD monitor, and the LCD Display Panel on top of the body.
The Canon G6 now features 7.1 megapixels resolution, keeps a 4x optical zoom but in a new optical system, a fast (large) F2.0 maximum aperture, Macro as close as 5 cm (2 in.) covering approx. 48 x 36mm (1.9 x 1.4in.), and full exposure flexibility. A Super Macro mode covers approx. 24 x 18mm (0.9 x 0.7in.) in 3 megapixels resolution.
